I had a lot of questions about this device, and I will try to answer those questions for others who are interested in saving money on their phone service. Here are my answers based on my experience. Does it work? It really works. After you register by plugging it into your computer USB port, you just plug in your router, power, and phone. How is the sound quality? It is about half way between a cell phone and a regular land line. Sometimes I briefly hear some low volume static after talking, and some people say my voice sounds slightly synthesized. There is also a slight delay. How many phones can it support? I activated the phone wiring in my house and plugged in 3 cordless phones, and they all worked. Often the PC needed to be rebooted so the quality was "acceptable." I was going to buy NetTalk Duo to replace my original MagicJack, but NetTalk doesn't port your phone number, so I waited for Magicjack Plus. The set-up of Magicjack Plus was relatively easy and took about 1/2 hour. After connecting the magicJack Plus, I immediately had a dialtone, but I was given a new phone number. I went online and chatted with a magicJack rep. who was extremely helpful and explained that I needed to log into my Magicjack account and click on a setting which I think was "use my current phone number" (or something like that). The Magicjack Plus works just like a landline and the call quality is mostly excellent, tho occasionally it sounds tinny, probably due to high traffic on the Web or high consumption of bandwidth. However, when my parents came to visit (who do not own cell phones), I did not want to leave them in the house with no telephone alone. So I purchased a Magic Jack Plus. It was very easy to set up -- plugged it into my laptop running WinXP and it was very self explanatory from there. Within 10 - 15 minutes, I had my magic jack set up, I had my phone number, and I was ready to go. The magic jack PLUS plugs directly into the internet router (cable is provided) and you must plug it into a power outlet for power (an adapter is provided in the package). You do, however, need a computer to set it up for the first time and get your phone number. So far the magic jack plus has been working great. I've only had it for 3 days, however.
