The initial set-up is fairly easy and can be done by a novice. If you are looking for more advanced set-up options, such as connecting to all outlets in your home, it can be a little trickier since you will need to access your telephone box outside your house and disconnect 2 wires. The call clarity is perfect. Nobody will know you are using the Ooma vs. a landline or other VOiP system. Best of all, my phone bill is now $3.47 a month (911 fee and taxes only).The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because when my power goes out, I need to reset my system. I do not know if this is for all Oomas or only if you have Cable Internet with a static IP address. Fortunately, there is a little light on top of the unit that tells you if it is active or not (blue = active, red flashing = not active, no light = no power). Packaged very well, easy to read and follow instructions, works stellar! It is obvious that the manufacturer worked hard to make this an easy install for non-technical people (as all manufacturers should!). Only three steps: 1) Go to website, sign up, and provide credit card info 2) Plug cable into broadband router 3) Plug other cable into phone About 60 seconds later, make a call! I couldn't be happier with the sound quality and service. All of the features of a land line for free! (all you pay every month are the mandatory taxes.
